it came!!!

It came!!! My most favorite Christmas album ever!!! This man makes Christmas official for me. It makes me think of the car ride out to Richardson's Tree Farm, all bundled up to search for the perfect Christmas tree. It makes me think of big hearty dinners, freezing cold weather, family togetherness, and all of the real joys of life.
I know, this is a bit early, but I wanted to be prepared this year. My normal rule is that Christmas music waits until the day after Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll make an exception this year, but I'll hold out as long as I can.

I know I'm not the only one who cherishes this particular album. Give a shout out if you are a fan! What feelings/memories stir in you when Roger Whittaker sings?

WOOOHOOO!

My family grew up listening to this album. Christmas just isn't the same without it! We lost our record and it took us several years to find the CD. We sooooo missed it.

My sisters and I can sing every song by heart! Especially "Darcy the Dragon". I always thought the song "Momma Mary" was about my mom since her name is Mary. :)

Now I want to get mine out and start listening! It is NEVER too early to listen to Christmas music!! It always makes me feel so cheery. I confess that I have already listened to a little bit of Christmas music this year. ;)

I am a John Denver and The Muppets Christmas fan myself. I just cannot get in the mood without that album!

I just KNEW that there was another reason us three families of sisters are so simpatico! I remember Rebecca commenting last year when I finally got my CD. (Took a loooooong time for it to come in stock at Amazon.)

Like Amy, I know the words to all of the songs and all of them are so sentimental to me.

Maybe you didn't know, but when I was in 7th grade I went to live with another family and go to the small Christian school we were part of in Arizona. (My family was in Cuba at the time.) During that time, I had a walkman and only two cassette tapes. One of them had Roger Whitaker on one side. I listened to it over and over and over. I didn't know whether I'd get to see my family for Christmas that year. I remember sitting on the steps and being so emotional--I thought I could handle Christmas away from my family, but just could NOT imagine my Christmas without my little brother baby Johnny. That would make me cry.

(I did go back for Christmas, and didn't return to Arizona.)

Anyway. . . long answer to your question.

This album is definitely special. However, it can be a little difficult to integrate someone who has not had the tradition of listening to it continually from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

When Alice got married her husband heard it for the first time and his comments were something along the lines of "Why do you like that '70's music so much? I just don't get it." Needless to say, he didn't go there again:-)

I must confess, this album is comfort music for me and I listened to it several times this summer when work was overwhelming me and I was feeling a little homesick for a simpler life and someone to take care of me. Right now I am trying to be good, but the Christmas music does come out occasionally. However, in our family the tradition was any Christmas music in Nov. but no RW until after Thanksgiving.

Can't believe it is that time of the year again already!

Have you ever visited pandora.com ? It's an internet radio, and you can select Roger Whitaker Holiday and listen to RW and other holiday music similar to his style.

It's happy making.
